A Sexy Smile Can Transform Your Face

January 29, 2015 By Karen Ficarelli

A warm smile can melt an iceberg. There is something sexy about pretty teeth, especially when a woman smiles. A subtle invitation that indicates friendliness, most public speakers will tell you that they seek out a smiling face in a crowd to relieve stage fright.
When a sincere smile shows off healthy shiny white teeth, the smile becomes an adornment for the entire face.

On the contrary, dingy or decayed teeth can hinder the look of the smile. Decayed teeth can lead to many health problems from bacteria and abscess and should be treated as soon as possible. Dingy teeth may show improved results with whiteners, either over the counter brands or having it done at your dentist’s office. It’s even possible to get your teeth whitened at the mall.

However, there is such a thing as too white of a smile. If people start putting on their sunglasses as soon as you walk into the room, chances are you have gone overboard on the whitening process. If this happens, you can drink tea, eat some berries or other colorful fruit or vegetable to tone down the brightness of a too white smile.

Excessive whitening can cause over sensitivity to the teeth and surrounding gum tissue. Your dentist may recommend that you use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth before and after your whitening process. A fluoride toothpaste may be used too, to help protect the teeth from decay.

A sexy smile is more than just an adornment for your face, though. Healthy teeth and gums can protect your heart and overall health. The same bacteria that cause plaque in the teeth is responsible for plaque build-up in the arteries too. It is believed that proper dental care can help to protect your body at one of the earliest sources of bacterial infection—your mouth.

Why I Love To Exercise

December 28, 2014 By Karen Ficarelli

I asked ten ladies about their relationship with exercise and got some interesting and motivating responses. The ladies I chose to interview all participated in exercise to some degree. Most of them exercised every day or every other day, while a couple of them only exercised a few of times a month.

Exercise gave many of these women a sense of satisfaction in every aspect of their lives. Not only did they gain confidence as they accomplished difficult exercise moves, they felt confident in relationships in both their personal lives as well as their careers.

Some reported a spiritual awakening from exercise. As if becoming one with the universe, these women confessed that exercise felt like the right thing to do. They said that they owed it to their body to give it what it so desperately needed and as they fulfilled that obligation they felt at peace with themselves.

Weight loss or weight management was high on the list of why many of the women exercised. For many of them, exercise was combined with their diets for optimum weight loss, while others revealed that exercise allowed them to eat some of their favorite foods without the guilt.

One woman said that regular exercise helped her rest better at night. She has trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. When she started exercising, she began to fall asleep earlier and rest better throughout the night. A word of caution here, exercise a few hours before bedtime, exercising too close to bedtime may make it more difficult to fall asleep.

The women who only exercised a few times a month, said they enjoyed exercise, were aware of the benefits, but unfortunately lacked the time. When they did find the time to exercise, they felt elated afterwards and had a strong desire to make exercise a regular part of their lives. However, they were still trapped by the elusion that they didn’t have enough time to exercise.

With all the benefits that exercise has to offer, I cannot understand how women can still say they don’t have time to exercise. And it’s not just the benefits that are important. Not exercising and leading a sedentary life is extremely bad for your heart. Studies are showing that inactivity is one of the worse things you can do for your heart.

Exercise is good for the body, mind and spirit. As I listened to these women talk about their relationship with exercise I felt inspired and motivated to share their stories with all of you. I want you to love your body, get excited about exercise and share your accomplishments.

Seizing The Day With Positive Affirmations

December 15, 2014 By Karen Ficarelli

Each day we are faced with many decisions and temptations. Whether to skip the gym in order to take care of personal responsibilities, how to resist a favorite dessert at a family gathering, when to say no to alcoholic beverages, the list goes on and on. Making the best choices for these challenges can be troubling, but with positive affirmations the decision to do what is best for your body will always be an easy one to choose.

Affirmations are a positive way to affirm your beliefs and resolve to make positive changes in your life. Affirmations have a power all of their own because they help your brain to focus on your goals. Positive self-talk that declares an action is already taking place. Affirmations super charge the brain and make the connection between body, mind and soul. When you focus on positive thoughts and actions, your brain picks up on these thoughts and sets about a path to make them happen.

Positive thoughts and possessing a positive attitude are the weapons needed to conquer negative thoughts and the damage that a negative attitude can have. Negativity is like a weed that grows rapidly to choke out the light and air from all living things around it. If not conquered, it can grow out of control.

Write down your affirmations and repeat them to yourself. Standing in front of a mirror will bring you face to face with yourself. Look deep into your eyes and repeat your affirmations with conviction. Remember to stick to the positive and stay away from the negative. Your mind has a tendency to take the easy road, so instead of saying I will lose weight, concentrate on being thin and skinny. Focus on the positive and train your brain to do your bidding.

Keep in mind that your daily affirmations are for the present day only. Concentrate on the day at hand and don’t try to project too far into the future. Dieting and weight loss are a day-by-day challenge, focus on each day, be thankful for your achievements and do all that you can to attain success today.

Repeating your daily affirmations helps to supercharge your mind to follow the healthy lifestyle plan. By doing this everyday at approximately the same time each day will soon become a habit that your mind, body and spirit will crave. Use this time for positive thoughts, pushing out any negativity that tries to invade this process.
