Notes about the Calorie Calculator
•The Calorie Calculator is designed to give an estimate of how many calories you burn per day.
•Men have more muscle mass and therefore burn more calories.
•Even with no exercise, your body still burns a considerable amount of calories digesting food, utilizing nutrients and keeping you alive.
•Keep in mind that these numbers are not set in stone. Everyone’s body works differently and requires varying amounts of calories. If you find you are gaining or losing unwanted weight, you’ll need to adjust your daily intake.
What do these numbers mean?
•Your daily calorie need is the amount of calories you need to eat each day in order to maintain your current weight. Its based off of an equation (Harris-Benedict) that takes into account your weight, height, age and activity level.
What if I want to lose weight?
•To lose weight, you need to eat 500-1,000 calories less than what you burn each day. For example if you burn 2,500 calories per day, you’ll need to eat between 1,500 and 2,000 calories to lose any weight. If you don’t want to lower your calorie intake, you can increase the amount of calories you burn by exercising more.
