Seizing The Day With Positive Affirmations

December 15, 2014 By Karen Ficarelli

Each day we are faced with many decisions and temptations. Whether to skip the gym in order to take care of personal responsibilities, how to resist a favorite dessert at a family gathering, when to say no to alcoholic beverages, the list goes on and on. Making the best choices for these challenges can be troubling, but with positive affirmations the decision to do what is best for your body will always be an easy one to choose.

Affirmations are a positive way to affirm your beliefs and resolve to make positive changes in your life. Affirmations have a power all of their own because they help your brain to focus on your goals. Positive self-talk that declares an action is already taking place. Affirmations super charge the brain and make the connection between body, mind and soul. When you focus on positive thoughts and actions, your brain picks up on these thoughts and sets about a path to make them happen.

Positive thoughts and possessing a positive attitude are the weapons needed to conquer negative thoughts and the damage that a negative attitude can have. Negativity is like a weed that grows rapidly to choke out the light and air from all living things around it. If not conquered, it can grow out of control.

Write down your affirmations and repeat them to yourself. Standing in front of a mirror will bring you face to face with yourself. Look deep into your eyes and repeat your affirmations with conviction. Remember to stick to the positive and stay away from the negative. Your mind has a tendency to take the easy road, so instead of saying I will lose weight, concentrate on being thin and skinny. Focus on the positive and train your brain to do your bidding.

Keep in mind that your daily affirmations are for the present day only. Concentrate on the day at hand and don’t try to project too far into the future. Dieting and weight loss are a day-by-day challenge, focus on each day, be thankful for your achievements and do all that you can to attain success today.

Repeating your daily affirmations helps to supercharge your mind to follow the healthy lifestyle plan. By doing this everyday at approximately the same time each day will soon become a habit that your mind, body and spirit will crave. Use this time for positive thoughts, pushing out any negativity that tries to invade this process.

Positive Is The New Pretty

July 13, 2014 By Karen Ficarelli

You have no doubt heard the saying, Pretty is as Pretty does. It means that a person’s actions and their attitude about life can be the difference in how pretty they look on the outside. People with positive attitudes, who treat others with respect and kindness, are some of the prettiest people I know. I am drawn to this positive energy and find ways to bring these positive aspects to my life.

Recently, I was asked how I always maintain such a positive attitude. My answer was simple. It’s something that I strive for every day and in order to ensure a positive attitude, I begin each day with positive affirmations. Not only do I use them to keep me focused on health and fitness, but I also utilize affirmations in nearly every area of my life.

I do not allow negative thoughts and actions to take hold of my day. That doesn’t mean I don’t face negativity everyday, but this positive force does have a huge impact on how I handle life’s challenges.

The affirmations that I repeat to myself are sincere. I repeat my affirmations aloud with conviction and believe whole-heartedly that these statements are possible. This positive self-talk sets my day on the right track.

Some examples of my affirmations are as follows:

I am fully energized and ready to start the day.

I am beautiful today.

I will have a fabulous day, today.

I love to eat a healthy breakfast and enjoy every morsel.

I will leave for work on time.

I will have a pleasant ride to work.

When I exercise today it will make me feel stronger.

I will be kind to someone today.

Don’t let others get you down, with their negative talk or constant complaints. Be kind to all and surround yourself with people who have a positive outlook on life. You are not responsible for other people’s happiness. Strive for your happiness and share that love with everyone you can.

Positive affirmations are a proven and easy way to make a significant difference in your diet and weight loss efforts, too. As with all aspects of your life, believe what you say and allow your affirmations to focus your mind on making the right decisions.

Respect yourself the way you do others, and look for the positive attributes in everyone you meet. Choose to take the high road by sticking to your affirmations, knowing that the positive path is the way to victory.

Say Something Nice or Nothing At All

April 2, 2014 By Karen Ficarelli

Anytime I find myself thinking negative thoughts about friends, family or acquaintances, I try to shift those feelings by replacing these negative thoughts with positive ones. It’s very much like the philosophy of saying something nice or nothing at all. When I feel agitated with someone whom I know, I begin to think about all the wonderful things I like about that person. It clears my mind, lowers my heartbeat and relaxes me. Saying or thinking something nice has a better effect on me than spending time being angry.

The same proves true in the way that I talk to myself. The thoughts that I harbor, the words that I focus my energy on are translated into a positive energy force that I use to guide my life. I fill my head with positive affirmations and repeat these everyday.
In order to appreciate the contributions of others, I must first recognize my own.

Saying something nice goes a long way. It builds relationships, improves self-esteem, and makes a great introduction. Every time I say something nice, I feel better. This is especially true when I say something nice to myself. I do this regularly with daily affirmations. It is a wonderful way to start every day.

I have listed my top 10 favorite affirmations for everything from fitness to sex:

1. I feel beautiful.

2. I love my family.

3. My clothes look amazing on my body.

4. I feel a tremendous love from my husband.

5. I want to make love to my husband every day.

6. Eating healthy makes me feel good.

7. Exercising makes my body feel flexible.

8. Adding weights to my workout is making me stronger.

9. My real friends support my fitness goals.

10. I am healthy for my family, my friends and myself.

These are just a spoonful of the positive affirmations that I use to guide my day. I truly believe that positive thinking is the foundation of a happy and meaningful life. If not for positive thinking, if not for people believing, then I am convinced that not much would get done.

Say something nice to someone you know and you will make him or her and yourself feel better. Say something nice to yourself and begin each day in a positive way.

Fuel Your Body With Positive Thoughts

November 13, 2013 By Karen Ficarelli

Affirmations begin as positive thoughts and are given power once you speak them aloud. They are positive, empowering statements that help you to overcome self-sabotaging, negative thoughts. Affirmations help you visualize, and believe in, what you’re affirming to yourself, helping you to make positive changes in your life.

There is evidence that the use of positive affirmations can successfully treat people with low self-esteem, depression, and other mental health conditions.
In a study published in the Journal of American College Health, researchers found that women treated with cognitive behavioral techniques, which included use of positive affirmations, experienced a decrease in depressive symptoms and negative thinking.

There are people who would scoff at using affirmations. That is because some people may view affirmations as just wishful thinking or simply looking at the world with an unrealistic perspective. However, using affirmations does not mean that you aren’t in touch with reality. Instead it is a way to calm the mind and refocus your attention on your goals and accomplishments.

Affirmations will not make problems go away, but may do wonders to help you deal with nearly any situation. Affirmations are like exercises for your mind and soul. The more often you say them, the stronger your mind becomes.

Use positive statements in your affirmations to keep your mind focused on your goals. Steer away from too many negative statements as they can make your mind stray and before you know it your affirmation session turns into a worry session.

Affirmations give you time to love your body and your mind. It is a time to focus on you and not on anyone else. Much like prayer or meditation, affirmations bring peace of mind. They are not a replacement for prayer or meditation but a way to empower your confidence and self-esteem. They are your proclamations that you were created for something great—because God doesn’t make any mistakes.

Exercise and diet alone will not give you the body that you desire. Your mind must be equally engaged to reach the goals that you set forth. The same is true for your soul. It is important to your overall health that your mind, body and soul work together in sync to give you the focus, strength and empowerment that you need.

Fuel your body with positive thoughts and you will see improvement in all aspects of your life. Sure, obstacles will still get in your way. Challenges are met everyday, but my strengthening your mind and feeding your soul, you are readying your whole self to deal with life at its fullest. Stand tall and strong and know that you are all that you are supposed to be.

Seven Affirmations To Fuel Your Body:

1. I am strong.
2. I am enough.
3. I can do all things that God has planned for me.
4. I am beautiful.
5. I am a winner.
6. My body is stronger today.
7. I love my life.
