Weight Gain After The Wedding How To Love The Pounds Away

August 16, 2010 By Karen Ficarelli

Ever notice when you find a new love interest how your appetite seems to disappear? The feelings of nervousness and excitement curb our eating habits and many times leads to a little bit of weight loss. However, when we finally capture our new lover, that old appetite comes back to stay.

When we take the romance to the ultimate step by getting married, appetites increase and eating habits can change. As a matter of fact, most married couples gain six to eight pounds after only a year of marriage. Couple that with a pregnancy or two, it’s no wonder that gaining weight is often associated to getting hitched.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. Not if you are aware of what is happening. You just need to stay inspired to keep your body looking the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. If you pay attention to it in the beginning, you can keep your body in shape.

Don’t fall into the habit of eating in front of the television. Try to curb that behavior in the beginning. You will be able to taste your food and focus on what you are eating and conversation with your spouse if you sit down at a table for dinner.

Prepare or purchase fruit to make for dessert. Yogurt and fresh fruit make yummy desserts or smoothies. Keep foods like this in the house and avoid prepackaged cookies and snacks. This way you can always reach for something sweet when the two of you are snuggling on the couch.

Make love often. Each 30 minutes spent on lovemaking will burn up to 85 calories. While that’s not a monumental amount, it adds up over a week or month. A week of lovemaking could mean a guilt-less ice cream sundae!

Hit the gym together. Many couples meet at the gym and then quickly quit going once they get married. Try to keep fitness a regular part of your life, especially after you are married. Participating in sports together might also be fun, like snow skiing, golf or tennis.

Cook healthy meals. In addition to having fruits in the house for desserts, choose foods that are low in saturated fat and sodium to cook for you and your man.

We really appreciate your input.  Please share it with us and our readers by leaving a comment.

Inspiring Words For Your Diet

July 23, 2010 By Karen Ficarelli

It’s not easy to stick to a diet, not in a world of advertisements for food that is not the best for our health. Couple that, with the easiness of fast food, both at drive-through restaurants and convenience stores, it’s no wonder that it’s hard to stay on a diet.

No one said it would be easy. At least not in the beginning. Changing the way that you eat, takes some time and a lot of determination and restraint. Breaking old habits is hard to do, but it has been successfully accomplished time and again and the good news is, it can happen for you, too.

Sometimes all you need are some words of encouragement to keep you focused on your goal. The pursuit of a healthier, more attractive body because you care enough about your self and those around you, to strive for something better and that means a healthy body.

So here you go: I hope these will help you to take the first step, or if you have had a little lax period in your diet, maybe these ideas will help to get you going again.

Make the decision to love your body. If you don’t truly love your body, how can you ever do anything nice for it? Healthy eating takes some getting used to. Cutting down on sugar and sodium means making changes to foods that might at first not have as much taste. You’ve got to give yourself time to get used to these foods, if you love yourself and keep in mind the reason you are selecting healthy foods is because of the love that you feel, it will be much easier to do the right thing.

Think about your those people that you love. Once you start losing weight, how will they be affected? If they are close to you and see the joy and confidence you reap from your weight loss, they will probably be ecstatic. You most likely will be happier and that will make everyone around you happier too.

Repeat to yourself that what one woman can do, I can too. You know others have successfully stuck to their diets and lost weight from eating healthy. So what’s up with you? You are fully capable of doing what you set out to do—I know you can do it!

If You Need Inspiration, Start With Some Perspiration

June 30, 2010 By Karen Ficarelli

Need a little inspiration to begin a fitness program? You know what they say about inspiration, it’s 99% perspiration! And that’s never truer than when you are talking about exercising. Seeing the results that exercise provides is usually all the inspiration that’s required to get motivated. Results like a stronger physique and beautiful six-pack abs.

The only way to truly get inspiration from exercising is to get out there and start moving. The endorphins that are released when we exercise are great for keeping the inspiration flowing. But what is your real reason for wanting to get fit? I’ll bet you have some specific reason that you want to change your body.

What will getting fit accomplish for your life? Is it a firm and sexy body that you are after or does it go deeper than that? Are you trying to reverse the signs of aging by staying active? Attempting to prolong the onset of diseases, or are you concerned about your loved ones and want to make sure you are healthy enough to spend time with them.

All of these reasons are ideal for inspiring you to seek a healthier lifestyle. Exercise is a crucial element to living healthy. It strengthens your muscles and circulatory system, helps to burn fat and calories and gives you a better range of movement so you feel better doing just about anything. The big bonus is the way that you look. A beautiful body that you can be proud of because you’ve worked hard to earn the way that you look.

Add some daily affirmations to your bag of inspiration tips, repeating affirmations will strengthen your resolve and encourage you to move forward with your goal. Above all, don’t give up. Read stories about fitness, imagine how great you will look, how good you will feel and how much you’ll be able to do, when you get your body in great physical shape. So get out there and give up that 99% perspiration, the inspiration needed will soon follow.

Inspirations From the Sea

June 7, 2010 By Karen Ficarelli

I was walking on the beach the other day when I spotted an interesting shell. As I bent down to pick it up, a wave pushed in and covered the area with water. My first thought was one of dismay. I knew the wave had washed my shell away and chances of finding it were very slim. But at the same time, I was filled with wonder at what the sea might have deposited as it crashed along the shore.

Life works pretty much the same way. Sometimes when we think we have missed an opportunity, another comes along. I’ve heard some people say that when one door closes, another one opens. Opportunities avail themselves usually when we least expect it and it’s up to us to grab hold if we want to improve our lives. But if we happen to miss an opportunity we must realize that another one will come along, all we have to do is look for it.

The beach with the serene sound of the waves and the warm tropical breeze makes me think that anything is possible. I know that as beautiful and breathtaking as the ocean can be, the most awesome of God’s creations is man and of course, woman.

The sheer power of the human mind sets us apart from every creature on earth. It is this power that makes us accountable for everything we do. When we want to make changes in our lives like losing weight or getting in better shape, we must take responsibility for our actions and be accountable for everything we eat, drink and all the physical activities that we perform.

We can control our minds to make changes for a healthy lifestyle. It is possible to learn to Think to Shrink. The Fitness4Her Diet and Exercise Program advocates keeping a fitness journal to ensure success. The act of writing in your journal every day will train your brain to think to shrink. Best of all, it’s a great way to get you started and keep you going on a fitness program.

I love running along the beach, and I take advantage of its power to purge my soul and free my mind. It’s a wonderful place to exercise and I can come face to face with the mighty sea. I know there are so many beautiful places to get outdoors and enjoy nature. I hope you take advantage of those that are nearby you, too.

The New Vessel

May 14, 2010 By Karen Ficarelli

If you’ve ever made a decision to change something in your life like losing weight, working out or getting a promotion, you know that once your mind is really made up, everything seems to fall in place. Hurdles that once seemed impossible to cross become easily maneuvered. Your ability to attract opportunities and shun defeat are suddenly inevitable.

Your mind is so powerful that it can direct all the right responses from the body if you play your cards right, so to speak. Positive words of encouragement, a can-do feeling, and a willingness to make it happen, causes your brain to send out special hormones that allow us to accomplish our goals. A heightened sense of awareness enables us to seek out opportunities and uncover the truth behind any obstacles that try to stand in our way.

If you desire true change in your life, you must be willing to accept that your life will indeed change. You can’t put new wine in old vessels; once your mind is made up to improve your body, a change in the way you see yourself will begin to emerge. Your body will start to take on the vision of that new and improved physique that you will feel inspired to work towards. Your mind, body and soul will all take equal responsibility in bringing your fitness goals to reality.

To help bring your fitness goals to fruition, use visual stimulation like pictures of sexy bodies, jeans that fit the way you want, models with small waistlines or any body style that you hope to attain. You can even cut out pictures of yourself to imagine how your new healthy lifestyle will soon make your body look, too.

Just as planning a vacation helps make going to work simpler to accomplish sometime, making plans about your emerging size makes working out easier when there is a reward at the end of the line. And you will be rewarded. A healthy balanced diet combined with at least 30 minutes of exercise each day will transform your body and your life.

Are you ready for the change that your hard work will bring about? It will definitely be a positive one. Exercise and diet are crucial to a healthy lifestyle. Stress reduction, weight manageability, improved mental stability and increased strength can all be attributed to exercise and diet.
