Think it, Believe it, Achieve it

August 24, 2009 By Karen Ficarelli

Thinking your way thin, sounds like a great philosophy, doesn’t it? We all know that losing weight is a whole lot more complicated than just thinking the pounds away. But the truth is that every great accomplishment starts with a thought … an idea … a plan.

We make decisions every day. Some decisions are almost natural, while others take a great deal of thought. Starting an exercise program requires an enormous amount of thinking and willpower. It also requires desire, dedication and commitment. That’s why the brain has so much influence over the success of your fitness program.

Beginning a fitness program takes a lot of courage, especially if you have tried and failed in the past. It’s sometimes difficult getting past that stigma of failure. But that is exactly what you must do.

That wonderful brain of yours can be the hero or the villain in your quest for fitness. “The woman who thinks she can and the woman who believes she cannot, are both right.” Whatever you believe, you will achieve.

If you believe in success, make a commitment to see it through no matter what, then there is no way that you will not accomplish what you set out to do. Usually this type of dedication results in feats much greater than a person even imagines.

On the other hand, if you start a fitness program, focused on your past mistakes, convinced this time will end in failure, and with very little vision of victory, disappointment will surely follow.

Don’t set your self up for defeat … approach your fitness goals with a positive attitude and the kind of dedication and commitment that winners possess.

So think it, get excited about it, and commit to an exercise program that will give you the body that you desire. If you believe it, you can achieve it.

What Is Your Vision?

August 5, 2009 By Karen Ficarelli

Do you have a vision for yourself? Perhaps it is a vision of losing weight, getting a promotion, learning to ski, or becoming an artist. Everyone has hopes and dreams, envisioning them is the next step to helping them come true.

Let’s say you want to lose weight. Start by making a list of the reasons you want to lose weight. Maybe it’s so you will feel better, move about easier, get healthier, or even to make yourself look prettier. Be honest, whatever your reasons, you need to write them all down.

Now take each reason and concentrate on each one. Instead of concentrating on losing weight, I want you to think about the significance of each of your reasons for losing weight.

What will it mean to you to feel better? Can you envision a thinner you, feeling better than you do presently?

How will you move about once you have lost weight? Can you see the thinner you, moving about gracefully? How will you walk? What will it be like to have less weight to move around?

Imagine yourself in control of your health, by making wise decisions about the foods you eat. Think about losing all the guilt associated with poor eating habits. Concentrate on the sense of empowerment you will feel when you take charge of your life.

Let yourself daydream about working out, mastering skills, and shaping your own body. Work up a mental picture of the body that you desire. Not someone else’s body, but your body… thin, toned and beautiful.

Next, think about how your clothes will fit. Imagine trying on clothes in a smaller size. Maybe there’s a style you have longed for but didn’t look right on your current figure. Imagine wearing any style clothing that you wish.

Picture yourself in photos with friends. Compare an old photo to how you will begin to look as you lose weight.

Now allow yourself time to meditate on these visions. It is possible to bring about change in your life. Maybe you’ve tried before and failed, that doesn’t matter now. All you need is today.

You can succeed. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth the extra work when you see your dream come true.

Program Your Mind For Fitness

July 17, 2009 By Karen Ficarelli

When you think about losing weight and getting in shape, are you focusing on the past or are you looking to the future? Concentrating on failures of yesterday cannot change anything. No one has the power to alter the circumstances that took place previously. Nor can we predict the future. However, what we do today has a great impact on what will take place tomorrow.

Eating well today, getting plenty of rest, avoiding alcohol and stimulants and maintaining a regular exercise program can make all the difference in the world with your health not only today but well into the future.

If you knew it would save a friend’s life if you devoted just thirty minutes each day to helping her get well, would you be willing to sacrifice that time? I hope your answer is yes. If you are the giving, humane person that I think you are, then you probably did answer yes. Well then, donate that thirty minutes to your own health.

That’s right, by setting aside only thirty minutes each day for exercise, your body can get all of the cardio stimulation it needs to stay healthy. Combine this routine with a balanced diet to lose weight and get in ultimate shape.

Your body is your temple. It is the only one you will get in this lifetime. Though we can’t control all diseases, we can make smart choices that are sure to improve our health. But to get to this point, we must start with our focus.

Start by programming your mind for success. Get an image of the way you want your body to look. Concentrate on what you need to do to bring your dream to fruition. Develop and execute a plan of action. Keep yourself focused on your results.

In no time at all, you will be on your way to victory.
