Imagine You With A Beach Ready Body

July 10, 2013 By Karen Ficarelli

Do you feel a sense of jealousy or animosity when you see a woman with a beautiful body? Have you ever felt inferior in the presence of an athletic woman? Many times women feel this way because they can’t imagine themselves looking that way. But it is possible to imagine yourself with a better looking body and yes it is possible to imagine you with a beach ready body.

As a matter of fact the best motivation for women’s fitness is to get a clear picture of how you want to improve your body. So, you start by imagining the size you want to be. You begin to look at these toned bodies and replace curiosity with your former jealousy. Rather than feeling intimidated, you want to learn their secrets to getting a body that you can truly be happy with.

Now, I am not saying that you shouldn’t be happy with the body that you have. I believe every woman is beautiful and the female body is a work of art. But it is your happiness, your health and your longevity, which are the deciding factors in your desire to improve your body and it starts with your imagination.

Stand in front of a mirror and really assess the way that you look. Take this step before you begin to shop for a swimsuit. Notice your body style and appreciate the things that you like about your body. Now, imagine yourself the way you would like to look and ask yourself what is standing in your way of getting what you want.

Every great work begins with an idea. Every idea is born from imagination. Imagine you with a beach ready body and begin to make plans to transform that dream into reality. No matter how much you weigh or what your current level of fitness, you can improve the way you look, feel and perform.

I recommend a workout that includes resistance or strength training exercises alternated with cardio exercises. Following the Pilates principles of engaging the core, I find that these exercises allow me to build muscle, reduce fat and give me the stamina I need. The big bonus is that I am proud of my body and am always ready for the beach, but it wasn’t always that way. It started with me imagining myself in a beach ready body and making the decision to not let anything stand in my way. As a result, I am stronger, healthier and better able to keep up with my family and friends.

Overcoming The Urge To Binge

May 1, 2013 By Karen Ficarelli

When you are trying to diet and have decided to eat healthy foods, you might find it hard to resist the urge to binge. Binges affect women differently, but more importantly is how we deal with these urges to “pig out” that has the biggest effect on our lives. Binging has many disadvantages especially when it means eating foods that are unhealthy or gobbling up an overabundance of food.

Eating unhealthy foods can cause stomach disorders, weight gain, bloating or cause blood pressure or sugar levels to rise. Overeating can result in a distended stomach and done repeatedly will cause your belly to grow larger and stretch to accommodate these occurrences. Prolonged binge eating can cause many other physical ailments but the underlying emotional damage is sometimes even more dangerous.

When you overeat, you are eating out of control. Anytime we aren’t totally in control of our lives, we can become emotionally distraught or depressed. Looking for the reasons behind the need to binge will help you to overcome these symptoms but if you have been suffering from this ailment for a while, you might want to consult a medical professional.

Binging as a result of dieting is something different than binging to fill an emotional void. In this article, I am referring to the urge to binge on foods that you are trying to avoid. Many times when starting a new diet, we find ourselves overcome with cravings for the very foods we have sworn to abstain from. If this happens, it’s better to give in a little than overcome with the need to binge.

A great way to overcome the urge to binge is by eating 5 meals a day instead of just 3. If you just add 2 snacks a day, you can keep your body satisfied and vary the types of food that you eat. Maybe you love a milk shake but have decided that the saturated fat content and calories are just too much to allow in your diet. Try substituting with yogurt and fruit for a fruit smoothie. Make it a smaller portion and enjoy it between meals for a healthy snack. This alternative will satisfy your emotional and physical needs when you are craving a comfort food that is sweet and creamy.

Be creative with your meals and plan them ahead of time. The less uncertainty there is in your diet the less chance you will fall to cravings and urges to binge. Hang your day or week meal plan on the refrigerator along side of a picture of what you want to look like. Little steps like this will help to keep you inspired and help to make your diet a success.

Inspire and Be Inspired

February 20, 2013 By Karen Ficarelli

Inspiration is defined as an action or power of moving the intellect or emotions.

What or who inspires your intellect and emotions? Different people inspire us throughout our lives. Teachers, preachers, friends and family members as well as celebrities have the power and position to offer inspiration. There are probably many people whom you inspire, too. It could be because of your perseverance in the face of adversity or your dedication and commitment to your goals. Inspiration is a two way street that can be a blessing to give and receive.

My children inspire me on a daily basis. All three have goals that they set for themselves, but they don’t stop there. Because they want to succeed, they make a plan to set these goals in place. When I see this type of goal setting, it makes me want to raise the bar for my own goals. Feeling inspired by my sons, I often look for ways to actually accomplish things I dream about on a daily basis.

Many women look for inspiration that will motivate them to lose weight and get fit. The wonderful thing is that the inspiration to take care of your body is right there inside of you. It is a natural desire to nurture our bodies, but it’s important that the way you choose to nurture it is both healthy and sensible. Rather than stuffing your face with ice cream, give yourself a facial that smells delicious. In other words, pamper yourself the healthy way.

Exercise daily for inspiration. You may be thinking that you need inspiration to begin exercising, but anyone who has ever exercised on a regular basis knows that once started, an exercise program offers a bounty of inspiration all on its own. Not to mention the benefits that it offers, like a healthier heart, better circulation, increased flexibility and better overall balance. Of course, we haven’t even talked about the calories burned and the weight lost, the fat burned off, all of these things possible with only 30 minutes of exercise, 6 days a week. It’s a fact that has been proven repeatedly.

If you really want to lose weight, if you really want to super charge your workout and improve the way you look, begin by writing down your goals and making a plan to see them through. Read your goals every day and affirm your plans to achieve them. Inspire yourself and your dedication and commitment may offer inspiration to someone else who is struggling to realize their goals. Many times we reach our own goals when we are willing to help others achieve theirs.

Your Strategic Plan for Fitness

October 31, 2012 By Karen Ficarelli

Do you have a strategic plan in place to get your body in the best shape ever? As in all business endeavors, you need a strategic plan that will resonate throughout your mind body and spirit for effective implementation.

A vital tool for success, it must be organized and something that you can believe in and adhere to. It should consist of three parts: Where you are today, where you want to be and how you plan to get there.

Determine where you are today in your level of fitness. Whether you are overweight or just taking your fitness to a higher intensity, define your starting point at this juncture. Record your weight and measurements at this level. Write down how you feel both physically and mentally. This will provide inspiration to kick-start your program.

A vital element to your strategic plan, your starting weight and measurements will give you the essential baseline to track your plan’s effectiveness. The degree to which you lose weight or transform your body shape will prove its success or failure.

What level of fitness do you hope to accomplish? Are you looking to lose a few pounds or do you wish to transform your body? Having a targeted goal in mind will make it much easier to work toward your success. I’m sure you have a desired weight or body image in mind. Write this down, even if it sounds like a dream at this point. This process will give your mind something to focus on and it will work hard to find a way to succeed.

Maybe you want to lose 10 pounds, or hoping to flatten your tummy. Whether it’s losing weight, firming up or a little of both, give yourself a goal to strive for.

How do you plan to achieve the fitness level or look that you desire? Making a plan that you can live with will be key to your success. Keep track of everything you do that brings you closer to your goal. Make notes about what worked for you and what didn’t. Be flexible enough to change the way you work toward your goal.

If you find you need to spend more than 30 minutes a day exercising to reach your goal, then be willing to work longer and harder to reach your desired fitness level.

So there you have it, a business-like strategic plan for losing weight and getting in shape. Simply put, you want to record your beginning weight and measurements. Write down your desired weight and measurements; make a plan to reach those goals and work hard to achieve them.

Inspiring Thoughts To Help You Get Fit

September 1, 2012 By Karen Ficarelli

Women are so beautiful and most don’t even realize it. We spend so much time dissatisfied with our own bodies that we neglect to appreciate how gorgeous we truly are. There has always been a fascination with the female body and our femininity has been a source of great pleasure.

When you are carrying more weight on your body than you are comfortable with, you begin to feel less than beautiful. Sure you can see your curves, but there is a layer of fat hiding some pretty awesome muscles.

Exercising without dieting, can result in less than desirable weight loss. If you really want to drop the pounds, you will need to adjust the foods that you eat. First off, you need to examine your portions. Next you want to watch the types of food that you eat.

The best way to do this is to write down every thing you eat and drink along with all of the exercise that you do. This will help you to keep track of what works for you when it comes to losing weight and what does not.

Make a commitment to exercise for 30 minutes a day at least 6 days a week. The best exercise program should include aerobics and strength training exercise. This will ensure you get the healthy heart benefits of a cardio workout coupled with the benefits of a resistance-training workout that builds muscle and improves your range of motion.

By making a decision to get fit, you will improve your mental and physical health. It is believed that a sensible diet and exercise plan can offset diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. You may find that exercise helps to improve your sex life and that can render many benefits for a healthy and happy life.
