If you have struggled with your weight and are tired of the constant yo-yo of losing and gaining weight, maybe it’s time to change your approach to weight loss. Reduce pounds the easier way, with positive affirmations that train your brain for healthy living.

Affirmations for Weight Loss

March 6, 2019 By Karen Ficarelli

Choosing the right diet and exercise is a major hurdle to losing weight. Still, even with the best efforts, some of those stubborn pounds just seem to hang on. Women can start to feel as if all this hard work and sacrifice isn’t accomplishing anything. Unfortunately, we begin to blame ourselves for not losing the weight. We deem ourselves as failures and give up on our weight loss goals. Then, we feel worse about ourselves for having given in. It is a vicious cycle, but there is an easy way to overcome these negative feelings. The process of weight loss starts in the mind. Change the way your brain perceives your weight loss goals and watch the pounds melt away.

Daily affirmations can boost your weight loss efforts and empower you to achieve your goals. These positive phrases can help to change your insight about yourself. Affirmations work by replacing negative thought patterns with positive ones. Instead of focusing on what you don’t have or what you want to have, affirmations re-program your thoughts to truly appreciate what you already have.

Studies have shown that if our mind is comfortable with a certain number on the scale, our bodies will maintain that weight. It is as if our brain gives permission to the body to stay that size. Negative thoughts not only prevent weight loss, in many occasions, these destructive reinforcements can even make you gain weight. You must break the habit of negative thoughts and replace them, with positive affirmations.

Your body is listening to what you tell it—isn’t it time you said something encouraging?
Your affirmations should always be in the present. Refrain from projecting into the future. Praise your body for where it is now not where it might be.

Below are 10 positive affirmations that are targeted at weight loss. After you have become comfortable with these, begin to make your own list of these wonderfully positive reinforcements for your body, mind and soul.

1. I give myself recognition beyond food.
2. I am my ideal weight.
3. I can say “No.”
4. My body’s natural state is to be lean.
5. I am fulfilled.
6. Food is a resource I manage wisely.
7. My metabolism works great.
8. My body knows what to do with what I give it.
9. Everything I eat nourishes my body.
10. I feel thinner today.

When Your Friend Hits The Weight Loss Lottery

January 23, 2019 By Karen Ficarelli

There are few things in life that will inspire you to lose weight more than seeing your friend’s waistline shrink before your very eyes. You may have been sort of dieting or sort of working out, but just haven’t fully committed to doing what it takes to lose the weight. It’s true that any sort of healthy lifestyle changes are good, but if you really want to make a difference in your fitness program, then you will probably have to work a little harder.

Of course, if there is nothing challenging you, then you are probably perfectly content with the fitness level and size you are now. But then your friend comes along, getting all serious about her workout and as the weeks go by, her extra pounds go bye-bye, too. Now, she’s got your attention. Now, you feel the urgency to do more with your workout. Now, you are finally inspired to take action.

Although there is no such thing as a weight loss lottery, when someone we know loses weight, it is as if they hit the lottery. With the excess pounds gone, they look and behave differently. Slimmer, trimmer and with an air of confidence, they parade around as if weight loss was something simple. They act as if they have found and hold the secret to staying slim.

The jealousy that you feel can be transformed into the inspirational fuel you need to get you in the right frame of mind. Don’t be angry with your friend for losing weight. Use their inspiration, motivation and discipline to help you get started with your own weight loss plan. If weight loss is on your mind, then you have already taken the first step to a better body.

If you feel jealous of your friend for losing weight, then it is high time that you figured out what changes you need to make in your diet in order to reduce your size. Never give up. Keep improving every day. You will reach your goal and you will be better just for trying.

Weight loss starts with inspiration, is fueled by motivation and affirmed by keeping a fitness journal. The Fitness4Her Diet and Exercise plan includes diets designed for you, exercises that are easy to do and a journal to keep you inspired, motivated and accountable for your healthy lifestyle.

Journaling: A Simple Solution To Losing Weight

May 24, 2016 By Karen Ficarelli

If you are having problems losing weight and getting in shape, I have a simple solution that has worked time and time again. Keeping a fitness journal is a low-cost way to lose weight because all it takes is a journal that you can write in and a pen to write it all down. Of course you can use a computer or smart phone but the simple act of writing by hand is powerfully motivating and will help you to focus on the goals.

The very act of journaling sends a positive signal to your brain and lets it know that changes are going to take place. Of course your brain is not fond of change. As a matter of fact it prefers the same old, same old. The brain loves a good habit. Habits are easy to follow, don’t expend much energy and just feel comfortable. But habits can make us fat and lazy and when you make up your mind to make positive, healthy changes like losing weight and getting in shape, you’ve got to rewire the brain to replace old nasty habits with healthy, positive ones.

Journaling goes back thousands of years. Writing down goals as a way of achievement has been a successful endeavor for many people, no matter how hard the challenge. Maintaining your journal is easy to do, it just takes commitment. However, if you are committed to losing weight, then you are already halfway there.

A fitness journal is like having an inspiring fitness buddy that you can take with you wherever you go. It is a great way to stay on top of your diet but it also helps to challenge your fitness level. If your workouts are getting boring, you can make new goals and choose new exercises that will work different areas of your body.

You can purchase a journal with pages that can be removed or added or you can just use a composition notebook. In this digital age, you may prefer to use your phone or computer to record what you eat and your fitness achievements. I prefer the old school method of actually taking pen to paper and writing. I enjoy writing and the act of journaling both soothes and energizes me in so many ways.

The wonderful thing about writing down your goals, is reading them later and reflecting on how much hard work, commitment and dedication it takes to achieve the goals that you set for yourself. Begin journaling today and find out how simple it is to lose weight using this timeless method.

Motivational Moments In An Otherwise Crazy Schedule

May 15, 2013 By Karen Ficarelli

Most days I stay busy from sun up to sun down. It’s not that I like to have such a crazy schedule, but there are so many things I want and feel the need to do each day that it’s hard to take it easy. I confess, I do take a restful day usually on Sunday, to enjoy time with family and friends because I believe one day of rest is needed to recharge and refresh. All throughout my busy days however, I find motivational moments that inspire and encourage me along the way.

Motivational moments are those tiny gusts of motivation that hit you for a minute and if you aren’t quick enough to grasp them they are gone like tiny sands in the wind. These tidbits of motivation come from various sources. I may look out the window and spot a butterfly moving from flower to flower, or see one neighbor helping another. I may watch a football game and feel motivated from the team spirit or listen to a heartfelt story of someone’s struggles that emulate my own challenges.

These motivational moments are not unique to my world and my life. Each and every one of us is blessed by these occurrences every day. It is how we use these occurrences that determine whether or not we are taking advantage of the motivational moments in our lives.

Motivational moments or any type of motivation is the key to sticking with your diet and exercise program. As a women’s fitness trainer, I have seen so many women who start out motivated to lose weight and they stay that way for about the first 30 to 45 days. During that time, they are full of enthusiasm and usually proud of the weight they are losing. However, around the 7th week or close to the 45-day period, the weight loss hits a plateau and they become discouraged because they aren’t experiencing the same euphoric success they felt in the beginning. These women are literally starving for some motivation to keep them going and when they don’t find it, many give up and return to a sedentary lifestyle.

Although I try to head off these low points and offer lots of encouragement to the women I work with, I know how hard it is to stay motivated in the face of low to no results. Women start to feel as if they are exercising more than ever and eating less than ever but still not achieving the weight loss goal that they have set for themselves. The good news is that if you switch to a healthy diet and combine that with an active lifestyle, you will do much more than drop a dress size. Every part of your body will benefit from these healthy changes.

Your motivational moments can turn into a motivated and purposeful life. Once you harness the power of self-motivation, you can be a motivational guru to those around you. People looking for motivation will see the enthusiasm that you have for life and will want to achieve the confidence and improved self-esteem that is apparent in everything that you do.
